Medicine Info & Care Activities in a Single Place
We are delighted to announce that VCare and Nourish Care have developed an enhanced integration between their eMAR (electronic medication administration record) and care planning system.
The integration enables medicine information to flow seamlessly between the VCare eMAR into Nourish care plans. Additionally, resident information can be transferred easily between the two systems, reducing duplication of work when it comes to resident onboarding and management.
Full Picture of Resident Health
The integration will help care homes teams save time, with medication and care planning information all available in a single place.
Care home staff would previously need to log onto the VCare eMAR to see whether a medication had been administered or alternatively would need to review paper medication records.
Now all staff can have visibility of what’s going on when it comes to medication, which ultimately helps them to understand a resident’s care needs at any moment.
There are medicines that are to be given either before breakfast (e.g., lansoprazole), or after food (e.g. ibuprofen or flucloxacillin) and all information will now be readily available to staff. Linking medicine administration to care activities ensures better quality and improved person-centred care for residents.
In the case of an emergency, a paramedic may need to instantly know what medicines a person has taken. With the VCare and Nourish integration, this information is easily available and care home staff can pass key medicine information to emergency services without needing to skim through MAR charts or log into another system.
There are lots of other situations where a full picture of a person’s health is needed, such as during a GP visit. In this case, a GP can clearly see how a person is reacting to prescribed medication and can alter doses accordingly.
Pain medications can have a significant impact on a person’s mood and wellbeing. Through the integration, an entire care home team can now have visibility of pain medicines, ensuring any behavioural changes can be connected to these medicines.
Overall, having all information together contributes to better informed decision-making for a person’s care team. The simplified presentation of all information is also helpful for CQC inspections.
Simple Resident Management
The integration can be easily switched on. Once switched on, admin users of the VCare eMAR can configure the integration directly from the VCare portal.
Users can see a live view of the syncing status of resident records, with statuses showing if records have been matched within both the VCare and Nourish systems. This is a vital safety feature as we have worked closely with Nourish to strike a balance between making the integration as simple as possible, whilst at the same time ensuring that the correct information always passes to the right resident at the right time.
The integration enables both systems to work closely together which is of particular benefit when inputting resident absences. At VCare and Nourish, we understand that maintaining an accurate record of resident absences can be extremely time-consuming – especially when dealing with multiple systems. For this reason, we have worked to remove this pain-point and ensure that information relating to resident absences are reflected without needing to update both systems.
